What we do
The aim of the Archive is to capture the rich history of our village and pass it on to future generations by running exhibitions and outreach programmes to build interest and pride in our village.
This includes copying and making available documents of historical interest, assisting with the safe storage of items of historical value, mounting informative displays on various aspects of village life and history and computerizing village records. The Archive is open on a regular weekly basis for visitors and special visits can be arranged through the Secretary outside public opening times.
Host exhibitions about Chiddingfold’s heritage
Our exhibitions have ranged from Chiddingfold’s many links with ‘rock royalty’, through farming and horticultural heritage, to architectural treasures of the village centre, anniversaries of village institutions like the WI, spotlights on treasures like The Crown pub and Earl Winterton at Shillinglee…and we have more planned…
Open the archive to visitors for research and interest
We are open every Saturday between 10am - 12pm and also by appointment. Simply email us to arrange a time to discuss your requirements.
Record memories, oral and written
We have recordings and written accounts from various initiatives to capture living memories of village residents.
We continue to record these fascinating snapshots of times past.
Do you know someone who would like to share their memories?
